On the meat trips, we’ve been finding some quality red grouper along with steady lane snapper action. The grouper bite has been consistent on the right spots, and the lanes have been perfect for nonstop action and great table fare. Always a good feeling when the box starts filling up early.
Out on the wrecks, things have been just as exciting. Amberjacks have been putting anglers to the test with hard runs and serious pulling power — not for the faint of heart. We’ve also had sharks in the mix, adding some chaos and adrenaline to the trips and keeping everyone on their toes.
Overall, March has delivered exactly what you want offshore — variety, action, and quality fish coming over the rail.

]]><![CDATA[AMAZING RED GROUPER BITE- Quality Fish!]]>Wed, 07 Jan 2026 05:00:00 GMThttps://www.saltyfishingcharters.com/sanibel-cape-coral-and-fort-myers-and-deep-sea-fishing-report/amazing-red-grouper-bite-quality-fishThe morning started out a bit chilly but my midwest crew bundled up and said they  were up to the task.  We made our way out offshore thru the pass to find smooth seas.  We got thru a small patch of fog, and from there it was crystal clear.  Conditions were so calm that you couldn't tell where the horizon started and the seas met. 
Once we arrived on the fishing grounds, the fish finder lit up like a Christmas tree!  From our first drop, it was game on with good quality size red grouper coming up and over the rail!  
Everyone got to get in on the action, with many simultaneous double, triple and quad  hook ups!  Time after time, rods would bend over with a bruiser on the other end!  
Our crew put together a phenomenal box of red grouper that will certainly provide for some amazing meals! Lots of great pictures to lock in those lifelong memories!

It was much lighter and patchy once we got outside the pass...Our group of 4 got comfy in the back as we pushed out into the 2-3 ft seas. pulled back the throttles as we got around 110 to hit our first spot... it lit up great, but the fish just did not want to chew...  We managed a few small hits, and one decent sized American red snapper that had to be turned back due to being out of season. 
We bounced to a few more spots and it was much of the same... great shows on the screen, but nothing wanting to chew for us.
We made a couple mile move and it was light a light switch, the bite was on!  We picked up some short red grouper, a couple different species of snapper, and 2 Goliaths- one around 40 lbs and the second well over 100. 
We had a few other good hits that rocked us up.... and then the bite tapered off...

We moved again and the next spot was our money hole.  We fired down baits and were rewarded with 6 plus size red grouper keepers, several of them 30" or better.  High fives all around!  We got several more big hits that rocked us up and broke off, surely some jumbo grouper.

We put down a couple bigger bloody cut baits and we hooked into two different sharks, an estimated 10 ft nurse shark, and a 6 ft sandbar.  
That wrapped up our day and the crew will certainly enjoy some fresh fish for the entire week they are down here!]]><![CDATA[November fishing  in review]]>Mon, 01 Dec 2025 05:00:00 GMThttps://www.saltyfishingcharters.com/sanibel-cape-coral-and-fort-myers-and-deep-sea-fishing-report/november-fishing-in-reviewNovember is notorious for being some of the BEST Fishing of the year and this year was no different! 

Our inshore fishing provided lots of opportunities for the big 3: Snook, Redfish and Trout. We received our first cold front of the year which dropped our water temps and got our fall bite really going.  We have seen lots of bluefish, ladyfish, jacks, sharks and other predators hot on the tail of the bait. 

Nearshore, spanish macks, kingfish and our annual run of cobia kicked off.  The sheepshead have also started to make their appearance with some studs being caught on live shrimp over our inshore and nearshore structure. 

Offshore, The red grouper bite has been fantastic! Some true stud size fish with some of our biggest of the year coming over the rails. We are also seeing some really quality size Lane snappers moving in a little shallower as well.   Many of our nearshore wrecks are seeing African Pompano and Cobia, both great bycatch when we are wreck fishing for amberjacks and Goliaths for that great photo worthy picture!

Somehow managed to loose a couple years worth of fishing reports here, but we will try updating frequently to keep you in the loop!

The morning started out a little foggy inland, but as soon as the sun came up, it melted off and epic tones of orange and pink sunshine crested behind the pair of 300 Yamaha outboards as we headed westbound in search of some good bottom fishing. We made the 40 mile run out in 2-3 ft confused seas, but the 33 World Cat absolutely ate it up and spit it out.  What an amazing, comfortable ride! Once we got to the first spot, hooks were baited and dropped down to hungry fish awaiting!  The Lane Snappers dominated the first spot, with some very quality size fish coming over the rail one after the other.  A few BIG hits came but got the better of the anglers, surely large red grouper getting back to their homes.  The next spot produced 3 solid red grouper keepers, along with many throwback size, with plenty more Lane Snapper for the box.  We also lost a good 5-6 Red Grouper at this spot before moving on to the next. The next couple spots were rinse and repeat, with more red grouper and Lanes, a few vermillion and almaco for the box, along with some juvenille amberjacks sent back... Our last spot yielded more Lanes, and an absolute firetruck of a red grouper, coming in at 34" total length.  What a hog!  We missed a few more big bites here as well. Would love to have landed 1/10 of what we missed for the day, as we would have had an easy limit of red grouper, but when you play with the big boys, thats the cost of doing business!  The box had over 75 high quality eating fish! Epic Day on the water!
