Headed out on a 3/4 day charter today with 2 anglers. Bite for red grouper was awesome. First red grouper landed was over 33"... 3 more solid fish were landed, but with only 2 anglers on the boat, they decided to release the 22" to see if they could land a bigger one.. and that they did with a solid 30.5" fish! Ducked around some storms and ended up on a wreck to try and cross Goliath grouper off their bucket list. And that we did! First one went 250 or so lbs, the second a touch larger in the 300 lb range.
What a day! Late June-Early July 2019
I spent the later part of june and july sitting on the "disabled list"... woke up after a day stretch of charters and my right arm was numb and excruciatingly painful. Trip to urgent care, followed by a second trip to urgent care after no relief, followed by MRI to my shoulder and Back resulted in confirmation of a bulging disc and nerve damage in my c6-c7. Been doing lots of at home physical therapy and slowly on the mend... Finally got back out on the water after a hiatus on July 16th. Was out for nearly a full month... But I will say we came back with a bang. We've gotten a ton of nice red groupers, some great and hard fighting permit, some big old mangroves, lanes and vermilions and a few giant goliath grouper to wipe them off our clients bucket list. The amount of quality fish weve caught (and often released) has been amazing. Rather than write reports for each of the trips, Im just going to put up some pictures from some of the trips. (see gallery) If you can get out and avoid the summertime storms, the fishing is downright incredible. |
